DEFC to depict Iran animation history

The Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) is making a documentary to recount 6 decades of the history of animation in Iran.

Mehrdad Sheikhan the director of the documentary "Iranian Animation" says lack of any written comprehensive source about the history of Iranian animation is the most important difficulty that he has faced in the process of producing this documentary.

“It took a great deal of time to gather information and to do research into the subject,” he added.

In his research sheikhan has faced with a number of animators who were mainly involved in animated commercials and had a powerful influence on animation in Iran from the 1940s to 1970s.

"Iranian animation" also deals with the roles of different organizations (public and private), autonomous filmmakers and academic centers in the development of the industry in Iran.
